White Envelopes
76The best thing about white envelopes is that you can buy them in any size that you want. They will also always be easy to address because you will never have to worry about your printer and pen’s ink not showing up well on the envelopes. There are still many different variations of white so if you are putting together some inner and outer envelopes or wanting to add an RSVP envelope, which are small white envelopes, and are getting them from different sources. You should also pay attention to the different types of textures that can be bought.
Most envelopes are made out of the same weight of paper. So keep this in mind if you do not want people to be able to see through the envelope. Of course the design of the card or invitation that is inside will determine if this is a problem or not. You can also buy lined envelopes if you would like to keep this from being a problem at all. The problem with these though is that if you plan on hand writing the addresses then you won’t be able to make a guide that you can see through the envelope. You could have both buy making the liner after you address the envelopes.
Printing on White Envelopes
The other really great thing about white envelopes are that they can easily be printed on. If you have an inkjet printer then there are a lot of things you can do with these types of envelopes. You could print your guest list and return address onto your envelopes rather easily. You could print a decoration onto the envelopes as well. If you have any sort of custom design that has been created, like a logo, you can also use your printer to print this onto the envelope. All you have to do is set a custom paper size for your printer, experiment a little with the direction of the envelope, and off you go. You can have all sorts of fun printing things onto envelopes.
Do remember that I say inkjet and there is a reason for this. If you use a laser jet printer then all of the seams will get pressed into the envelope. This is because the laser jet printer works by transferring toner with heat. The heat will mess up the envelope. You should also keep in mind that certain types of envelopes, like metallic or petallic envelopes, cannot be printed on with an inkjet printer, but most will, just make sure to ask whomever you are buying the envelopes from if this is your plan.
More Specifics About the White Envelope
There is a huge range of different sizes and styles of envelopes available. You can buy commercial and official envelopes, square envelopes, clasp or string and button envelopes, latex seal envelopes, first class mail envelopes, A-Style envelopes, document envelopes, inter-office envelopes, window envelopes, remittance envelopes, drug and pay envelopes, baronial envelopes, coin envelopes, policy envelopes, jumbo envelopes, expansion envelopes, catalog envelopes, and simple seal envelopes just to name a few.
There are even envelopes that are called simple seal envelopes. These envelopes don’t need to be licked in order to close. They seal on contact. The flap for these is more of a square flap though, so you will most likely never see the as pointed flap because they are not designed to work this way. They have to flaps that seal together when they are in contact.
Whenever you are mailing envelopes with a first class stamp you should make sure that the envelope is at least 3.5” high and 5” wide and not any bigger than 6 1/8” high by 11.5” long. You should also keep in mind that the address should always be kept parallel to the width and this is how the dimension regulations are interpreted. Square envelopes do not fall within the postal regulation and will not go through the postal machine so they have to be hand stamped and because of this they cost more to send.
Addressing White Envelopes
If you have any interest in printing all of your guest’s names onto your envelopes this really is not difficult to do. You can also do it for any sort of return address that you might want to put onto the RSVP cards so that you can easily identify who the RSVP card is from in case they have forgotten to put their names on the card. Some people may feel that handwriting them is better, but I just don’t have the best handwriting and I think that my printer is a much better calligrapher than I am! There is a really great guide that shows you step by step how to address envelopes easily by printing directly onto them.
