Your office may be in a large corporate building or a small room that you use to operate your home based business, but each office is faced with the same problem. Receipts, invoices, and letters can rapidly turn into mounds of paperwork requiring hours of filing. To help keep your office neat and organized, you will need a durable storage cabinet.

Storage cabinets are a secure and effective way to stock supplies or paper products, and eliminate clutter that may be outdated or unsafe. Providing adequate storage space is essential to keeping an office running smoothly, equipment can be properly stored and easily accessible to employees or office managers.

Storage Cabinet Solutions

Available in different designs and materials, storage cabinets can be purchased assembled or unassembled, in heavy or medium duty. Heavy duty cabinets can withstand up to four hundred pounds per shelf, the capacity for medium duty cabinets is two hundred pounds per shelf.

Common materials used for constructing storage cabinets are wood, glass, particle board and metal storage cabinets. You can even find a plastic storage cabinet that is rather nice for your home or kitchen. Wood cabinets are made from hard woods such as maple, oak and cherry. They are beautiful, functional, and will last for many years. A metal storage cabinet will fit well in contemporary settings and are durable, but most metal cabinets have sharp edges or corners. A home office with children should consider this option carefully. Glass cabinets are usually for displaying products or items related to your business, and particle board is wood particles pressed together and bound with synthetic resin to make a light weight, inexpensive cabinet.

The kind of office storage cabinet you select will depend on the type of business you have and the storage needs of your office. Stainless Steel cabinets are used in pharmaceutical and food service companies. High flammable liquids are stored in flammable cabinets, and industrial storage cabinets are used in schools, institutions, plants, and offices.

Other types of storage solutions include acid storage cabinets for companies that store solvents and reagents, audio storage for audio equipment, and a dvd storage cabinet or a media storage cabinet for compact discs and digital video discs. A mobile non flammable storage cabinet can be used to protect jewelry, important family documents, or firearms. For wine collectors, there are climate controlled storage cabinets.

Deciding on a Storage Cabinet

When you are ready to choose a storage cabinet, consider the area where it will be installed and measure the height and width to determine if the cabinet will fit safely. To get the most efficient cabinet for your office space, make a list of the items you plan to store and group them by size or value. This can help you to determine the approximate size of the storage cabinet you will need.

The two deciding factors on types of materials for your cabinets will be budget and location. The money you spend on storage cabinets can be considered an investment in office furniture, and you should buy the best one that you can afford. If your office is subjected to moisture, plastic storage cabinets will be your best option. A wood storage cabinet is commonly used in areas where there are people passing through.

The design you choose should be the appropriate size for your office space, and it should be ergonomically designed for efficiency and adaptability. A cabinet with adjustable shelves will be beneficial when you need to rearrange your cabinets to suit your storage requirements. If your company has special needs for oversized or odd shaped products, cabinets can be customized to your specifications.

If you will be purchasing storage cabinets for a small child's room, look for products that are made by companies who do not use lead based paint or harmful chemicals for staining wood. Cabinets for children are usually made with particle board.

There are a variety of manufacturers who produce and distribute storage solutions for home and office use. Before you commit to making a final purchase, research and visit several reputable companies to find the best storage cabinet for your home or office.

Yes, I love Ikea too. One of my favorite stores. I think the worst thing about ordering online from them is that their shipping can get expensive quickly. I am also always looking for storage options, I just seem to always be running out of places to put things!
